Shiatsu

Allen Baker - Shiatsu
Using supportive nurturing touch,  Zen Shiatsu works to balance the flow of energy in the meridians of the body by nourishing areas of weakness and breaking up areas of excess or stagnation.   A two-handed technique is used to make a connection between different parts of the body, sometimes engaging specific acupoints, in order to restore the energetic flow throughout the body.   This technique may occasionally incorporate, as appropriate, the use knees or elbows, or various stretches,  to further deepen the connection.

Zen Shiatsu is based on the traditional Chinese meridian system integrated with the extended meridians, based on the groundbreaking work of  Shizuto Masanaga of Japan, which considers the psychological implications of each meridian.

During the session, the recipent lies on a mat on the floor wearing loose comfortable clothing.   Although the experience of receiving shiatsu is very much a physical one, the focus is energetic and addresses the entire person, allowing for a deep connection to one’s own healing energy within.

I became a practitioner inspired by my extensive experience as a recipient of many forms of bodywork which continuously revealed to me the connection between bodily function and mental-emotional and spiritual health.

Zen Shiatsu supports one’s underlying propensity for healing, and safely compliments any other treatment.
